What does your health policy cover?
We help you find what is covered, the limit and your share of expenses. Missing information needs to be checked in the policy.
Does the insurer pay the hospital directly?
Check whether direct hospital payment is provided. Confirm the hospital and any required pre-authorisation with the insurer before treatment.
Your share of covered expenses
Deductibles and co-payments apply to covered expenses. Excluded expenses or amounts above the limits may cost you extra.

Did the increase letter arrive?
In 2024 health premiums rose by +6,24% including the effect of age, and by +1.25% without it, according to ELSTAT's index for long-term health insurance. This is not the increase for every policy.
The increase letter, though, does not explain what you get for the new premium. PolicyWallet reads your policy and shows you the limits, exclusions and waiting periods you already hold — so the call to your insurer happens with the facts in front of you.

Five questions before you renew
- What exactly changed from last year's policy — in the covers, not just the premium?
- Did my limits or my deductible change?
- Were any exclusions added or removed?
- Do waiting periods still apply to any cover?
- Is the hospital I care about still in-network with direct billing?

Common questions: Health
What is the deductible in health insurance?
The amount of costs you pay yourself before the insurer starts paying. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium usually is.
How do I know whether the hospital bills the insurer directly?
Direct billing means the insurer pays the hospital, subject to conditions. It does not mean you have no expenses. Check the hospital network, approval requirements and your share before planned treatment.
How does PolicyWallet help with health insurance?
We turn the fine print into a clear picture: what is covered, up to what limit, and how much you pay yourself — before you need a hospital. We do not sell insurance and take no commission.
